The end of the beginning of the end of the beginning of the silly season
Hungry Port fans make their way to Melbourne
Port Adelaide supporters have been making the trek east to Melbourne by road, rail and air.
Packed buses have been leaving Adelaide and the sold-out Overland train will leave tonight with hundreds of passengers in 16 carriages.
“We might have less than the Collingwoods and the West Coasts but they’re passionate and I think this year in fact the state has encapsulated and cataken on board Port more than before.”
As many Port fans make the long drive east, Di Obst from the truck and bus stop at Bordertown in South Australia said the flood of travellers had been keen for food, creating a rush similar to those usually seen at Easter and Christmas.
“Normally on a night shift the girl will do 50 to 100 customers from midnight to six o’clock,” she said.
“She put through 247 which is an awful lot for one person. And we’ve been running ever since.”
God (or the Deity of your choice) only knows what Frankie Howerd would have made of those last two pars. However my problem is with the pic accompanying the report.
Call that a hamburger?!?! W(here)TF is the beetroot you Bordertown phyllistines?!?!
... and let me tell you this for nothing, my mother is not a happy Jan. It's because of all of those Adelaide people stopping off overnight in Ballarat on their way to Melbourne what are using all the water what's caused her to put up with stage 99A water restrictions ... and her curtains to fade and the cows to go on strike.
